Our story

Welcome to Emma Bean’s Notions & Knitknacks. I’m Gigi, the owner & curator. I learned to crochet from my dad when I was about 8. When I was expecting my first child, I decided to knit a blanket and went to my LYS to learn. Through the years of raising children, I dabbled in the fiber arts, but in 2007, found myself in a community of lovely people who were wholly craft oriented. I learned more and tried anything and everything that caught my eye. However, it wasn’t until April of 2020 when I found myself in a brand-new city, all alone in a 2-bedroom apartment every single day that my hobby became my obsession. Since then, I haven’t put the needles down for a minute! I love to travel, attend workshops, festivals, retreats and tours all involving knitting and crocheting. I wanted to bring all the amazing treasures I have found in my travels and offer them in one place where you too can enjoy them. And I hope that they bring you joy as you make beautiful things.
